Certified Meeting Manager (CMM) Certification Information
The mission of the Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) program is to select, educate, and certify management-level meeting and event professionals. The focus of the certification is to provide continuing educational enhancements to the strategic decision-making ability of these leaders to manage and deliver exceptional meetings and events that drive organizational success.
What is the CMM Educational Program?
MPI’s CMM educational program is an intensive learning opportunity designed for experienced and highly accomplished members of our global meeting industry community seeking personal career advancement and professional recognition.
The 5 1/2 day program enhances the strategic decision-making ability of these leaders, enabling delivery of exceptional meetings and events that drive organizational success. The CMM certification and resulting designation is the most prestigious in the meetings and events industry. The program is continuously updated and revitalized with curriculum enhancements for today’s evolving business culture.
I joined the International Special Events Society (ISES) in 1996 because my professor and mentor at George Washington University, Dr. Joe Jeff Goldblatt, CSEP, was one of the founders. He really encouraged me to get active and commit to the special events industry and was instrumental in getting me connected within the industry. Joe Jeff always advocated the importance of becoming a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP), which ISES created, as not only a way to improve my knowledge and skills on all aspects of special events, but to enhance my professional image and credentials as well as those of the industry itself.
I sat for MPI’s Global Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) because it focuses on the strategic decision-making abilities of meeting planners and teaches us how to engage upper management on the value of meetings and how they can drive organizational success. I think it enhances my CSEP certification by providing business acumen on how meetings and events are a valuable part of the business model.
I entered the Institute for Integrative Nutrition this year to become a Certified Holistic Health Counselor (CHHC) because I am a meeting planner with food allergies. I am going to use this certification along with my 19 years of experience and other certifications to educate the hospitality industry on how we can positively impact the health of our nation by providing more nutritious and delicious meals for our attendees and employees and meet the needs of attendees who have special dietary requirements.
